Job Description

Major responsibilities will include:

Performs a variety of buying/purchasing tasks involving materials, supplies or services as assigned, with responsibility for maintenance of excellent supplier relationships that support the reliable procurement objectives. The incumbent is empowered to act as an agent of the company within established policies and procedures.

  • Manages a common group of commodities so that the quality, cost and delivery objectives of the operation are successfully supported.

  • Researches and recommends to Manager additions to maintain and augment the supplier base.

  • Assures that contracts for commodities are advantageous to the company-s long-term profitability.

  • Assures adequate purchasing specifications by early supplier and engineering communications.

  • Researches and implements opportunities to reduce product cost and inventory investments.

  • Interprets material demands from sales orders, master schedule and forecast.

  • Prepares and awards purchase orders and/or procurement contracts based on the interpretation of the demand maintaining and/or improving cost quality and delivery performance.

  • Executes specific problem resolution actions in coordination with engineering, quality and manufacturing operations.

  • Represents the Purchasing department in project meetings and provide input / support to meet program goals.

  • May assist in negotiations for major purchases by developing or compiling statistical information and gathering other data as required.

  • Negotiates and settles with suppliers regarding damage claims, rejections, losses, return of materials, over shipments, cancellations and engineering changes.

  • Coordinates with the Finance Department as required to resolve questions on suppliers' invoices.

  • Some domestic and international travel may be required.

The team member is occasionally required to walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk or hear. The team member must regularly lift and move up to 20 pounds.



  • Proven experience in a similar position

  • Bilingual is a plus

  • Solid verbal and written communication skills

  • Experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

  • Must be eligible to work in the US

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Minimum 3 years- experience in a high volume-manufacturing environment with an emphasis on materials control.

  • Comprehensive knowledge regarding automated ERP system (Aptean)

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to interface effectively with technical, administrative and operational communities.


  • Must be a self-starter and self-directed worker.

  • Must be neat in appearance and well groomed.

  • Must be professional, organized, detail oriented, communicative, and have the ability to greet the public in a friendly and courteous manner.

  • Must maintain good working rapport with all departments.

Working Environment

  • Works in a well-lighted, air conditioned and heated office. May be exposed to electrical and chemical hazards and other conditions common to an office environment. May be required to work at any time of the day, evening or night during the week or weekend.
