Kelly Engineering is looking for an experienced Field Applications Engineer for a position that is based in Scottsdale, AZ. This position will be working within the Engineering organization to manage new product applications and demonstrations (domestically and internationally). The ideal candidate is an experienced, high-energy individual with a strong electrical background in solar and power conversion equipment. This position requires a high-level of drive, autonomy, and flexibility to work in a rapidly developing and high growth environment. The successful candidate will possess creativity, ingenuity and acute problem solving skills, as well as experience managing contractors and customers. The candidate will be a hands-on, team player with excellent interaction skills. The job functions you will be required to perform are listed below:

  • Integrating energy storage systems for various applications (PV, inverters, and other power generation & conversion equipment).

  • Performing site surveys to determine system location and means of connecting.

  • AutoCAD or similar drafting software to create site layout drawings

  • On site installation of electrical equipment

  • Understand and check all electrical design work prior to project execution

  • The management of installation contractors, training, service, warranty follow-through, metrics reporting, spare parts management, and customer interaction.

  • Develop good customer relationships and rapport with key operations staff.

  • High degree of domestic and international travel will be necessary to fulfill the role. Need flexibility to travel frequently (50% annually). From 3 days up to 1 month at a time.

Qualified candidates with the following education/experience will be considered:

Qualifications:

  • BS in Engineering/Engineering Technology degree preferred but not required

  • 2-4 years of experience in the power or solar industry as an electrician, general contractor, or engineer.

  • Ability to work together with small and large groups of people and have strong leadership traits

  • Experience interpreting and implementing functional and technical specifications.

  • Demonstrated abilities to troubleshoot product reliability issues, formulate corrective actions, and implement solutions for fielded products.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills for frequent contact with visitors and customers/clients entering the worksite.

  • Complete assigned tasks with little oversight, in an organized manner.

  • Meticulous attention to detail to gather and process data into meaningful reports.

  • Must be familiar with a variety of field concepts, practices and procedures.

  • Rely on experience and independent judgment to accomplish tasks in harsh conditions where products are installed

  • Employee will sometimes work in environments with moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions such as rain, wind and dust.

  • Employee is frequently required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
