Job Description

Kelly Services is currently looking to hire Clean Room Operators for Western Digital in San Jose!

This is an entry-level manufacturing assembly role to work for one of the largest computer hard drive manufacturers in the world. Western Digital is looking for Candidates that are: punctual, committed, hard-working. This shift leaves you open to make more money and work fewer days each week while building your career at an exciting company. Pay Rate:

$15.00/hr. +OT (day shift), $16.88/hr. +OT (night shift)

New pay rates for base pay $15

Tier 1. After 3 months on assignment:

$15.00 to $15.75

Tier 2. After 6 Months on assignment:

$15.75 to $16.50

Tier 3. More than six month after hire

$16.50 to $17.00

To be eligible for the pay increase you must meet the following conditions:

No high severity quality tags, such as those due to gross mishandling

Good attendance, accurate timekeeping, arrive to work and depart on time

Comply with break and lunch schedule

No missed overtime commitments

Certified at 1-2 (depending Tier) on or more medium or 1 high difficulty operations

Recommended for increase by WD manufacturing manager

Gold Prime Shift:

7:00AM-7:00PM Thurs, Fri, Sat and every other Wed


Ability to follow established procedures

Basic computer skills

Ability to stand for long periods of time (10+ hours a day)


Able to effectively work in a team environment

Previous cleanroom, manufacturing, assembly and/or Production experience preferred but not mandatory


Working in a clean room wearing a full bunny suit (no makeup; perfume; hairspray, etc.)

Responsible for operations associated with wafer fabrication, including thin films, photolithography, electroplating, etching, lapping and probe

Perform set-up, calibration and preventative maintenance tasks on wafer fabrication equipment, encompassing various aspects of wafer manufacturing and engineering technician functions

Collect and evaluate operating data to conduct on-line equipment adjustment and ensure process optimization

Perform in-process operations such as assembly, measuring, visual inspection and electrical testing to ensure processes and products meet specifications

Use sophisticated customized programs to track and control material and equipment in the production process

May operate equipment used in the process such as microscopes, coaters, aligners, steppers, developers, lapping machines, electroplating stations, high vacuum sputtering, probe, ion mills, chemical etch stations, profilometers, x-ray fluorescence, atomic force microscopy, scanning electron microscopy
