Clinical Project Manager, San Diego, CA

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide project management for a first-in-man clinical trial of a cell therapy for burn injury; trial funded by US government contract

  • Maintain project support documents including but not limited to WBS dictionaries, Risk Registers, Subcontractor Management Plan, and Project Charters

  • Provide Project management and budget oversight of primary subcontractor (CRO) responsible for core clinical trial execution and management activities.

  • Proactively identify, communicate and resolve issues that could negatively impact on-time and on-budget completion of deliverables.

  • Assist company Management in development of accurate, detailed budgets.

  • Ensure that changes to project scope are captured, approved, documented and communicated team-wide.

  • Maintain project administration activities including administrative items such as scheduling meetings, preparation, maintenance and distribution of meeting minutes and agendas, preparation of requests for Contract Officer’s Authorizations, etc.

  • Clearly communicate expectations with regard to content and timing for all project deliverables to stakeholders and team members.

  • Ensure adequate and appropriate communication with subcontractors, consultants, and government funding sources.

  • Review and manage all project purchasing and invoicing activities.

  • Preparation and submission of regular project reports including technical and budget progress.

  • Interpret and become an internal subject manager expert on governmental contracting regulations.

Education and Experience

  • Four (4) year University degree preferred

  • Experience in project management including budgeting and financial administration of projects

  • Experience with government contracting and Clinical Trial experience preferred

  • Demonstrated project management experience

  • Familiarity with project management principles and commonly used tools and methods

  • Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Proficiency in MS Project highly preferred

  • Understanding of control accounting systems preferred
