Title: Engineer I (Supplier Quality)

Duration: 6+ months (high likelihood of extension or even temp-hire!)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Our client is seeking an Engineer to support the Supplier Quality group

  • Will be working with third party suppliers and will maintain responsibility for the quality of suppliers.

  • Supply chain, inventory, and quality experience required.

  • The global corporate-wide Supplier Notice of Change (SNC) program is responsible for ensuring the overall SNC program is compliant, efficient, and effective in supporting continuity of supply and quality. The SNC Program reports into Purchasing and Supplier Management (PSM) and is responsible for managing the SNC Program across the company.

  • Work collaboratively, across client, to ensure each SNC includes the current, correct and complete scope of impact to organization.

  • Identify Product Core Teams (PCTs) responsible for products impacted to ensure cross functional awareness, clear project management ownership/leadership, and communication of the project scope (i.e. impacted Baxter facilities and products).

  • Assess new supplier change requests and collaborate within the SNC Team to develop a project charter, including the project scope, impacted facilities, and products. Work with global team members from PSM, Supplier Quality, Engineering, and SPO. This includes support for all regions and client divisions.

  • Advocate the Risk-based Approach to resolving SNC projects.

  • May facilitate projects that impact multiple client facilities.

  • Resolve and escalate project leader issues and questions.

  • Identify and implement process improvements and work optimizations for the SNC Program.

  • Provide governance of existing open SNC projects to ensure timely closure.

  • Support other key initiatives within the department as needed.


  • Advanced MS Excel skills (V Lookups, Pivot Tables, Macros)

  • MS Access

  • SharePoint

  • Diverse knowledge of Baxter products or manufacturing is a plus

  • Effective project management skills

  • Process orientation and demonstrated application of continuous improvement

  • Critical Thinking and Problem Solving skills

  • Effective collaboration, communication and stakeholder management skills

  • Ability to work through ambiguity to drive decisions

  • Change Agent – challenge the status quo.

  • Software skills: Word; Outlook; Excel (pivot tables & v-lookups -strongly preferred, macros -nice to have; Access (experienced with design-nice to have); SharePoint; & Trackwise 7 or higher, preferred

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Experienced good documentation practices

Education / Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering required

  • Internship experience as a project manager, strongly desired.

  • Previous experience within Pharmaceutical or Medical Device Industry, preferred
