Mechanical Engineering Technician (Ravenna, Ohio)

Our client, a specialty chemical company (a supplier of both precious and base metal catalysts), is currently hiring a Mechanical Engineering Technician. This position is a Contract without an end date.

The Engineering Technician is responsible for installing product, conducting product performance testing, and for recording, analyzing and validating performance data.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Assemble products according to schematics

Conduct product performance tests (hot and cold), set up equipment, record data and analyze data, and write test reports

Chart and model data to predict performance and future designs

Use install tools to assemble products

Ensure that product designs are functional

Fabricate tools from schematics

Write work instructions for use by production staff

Take on any other duties which are within the employee’s skills and abilities whenever reasonably instructed

SCOPE:

Plans own work/activities over a weekly/monthly time frame across a small range of projects and tasks

Applies technical understanding and considers options to solve problems and identify risk on task related issues under guidance

Works independently on specific engineering tasks within required time frame with support available and regular checks by supervisor or senior colleague

Receives clear management guidance

Works as part of a team on specific tasks or projects

May be responsible for directing contract/agency personnel and guiding trainees/apprentices in some circumstances

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in an engineering field with 2+ years of demonstrated experience in engineering, or an Associate’s degree and 4+ years of experience

Solidworks

Technical strength in mechanical design and assembly

Technical knowledge of tools, machinery and equipment

Data analysis

Knowledge and experience of basic shop safety

Basic understanding of chemical engineering issues

The techs also need to have experience with designing and conducting tests, possibly analyzing data as well

Previous experience designing, developing, and training new products and systems
