Mechanical Engineer (Ravenna, Ohio)

The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for researching, inventing, developing, and implementing new products and processes, as well as for making improvements to existing products and processes.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Apply engineering principles to design, develop, modify, or improve products and processes

Determine feasibility of designs and prototypes considering technology, customer requirements, vendor capability, cost, and time

Review and test designs to ensure accuracy, performance, commercial viability, and safety

Research literature and other resources for information relevant to design & development of products

Manage test programs and methodologies to trial and demonstrate critical elements of technology

Conduct engineering studies on design for products, processes, components, and structures

Use computer-assisted engineering software and equipment

Maintain documentation of results and the relevant impact on proprietary information

Analyse process requirements and related technical data pertaining to design

Produce new product and process concepts

SCOPE:

Works closely with the Engineering team, along with Operations, Production and the Reaction Technology teams

Will at times have direct customer contact

Planning horizon of own work/activities is typically between 1 - 6 months.

Prioritizes activities of others

Applies existing engineering concepts, taking a complete view, to solve complex issues. Makes improvements to processes and identifies and evaluates risks within projects.

Works in several areas, and with a cross functional requirement

Works independently and takes ownership within engineering programs, leading on specific issues and projects

Responds flexibly to changing demands, defining a framework to solve problems

Checks output of other team members

QUALIFICATIONS:

Solidworks background

Experience with testing or designing structural parts, and the processes that go into producing parts

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, with 4+ years demonstrated experience in product development

Technical strength in mechanical and system design

Background in mechanical product and prototype design

Computer skills – MS Office

Mechanical engineering analytical skills- materials, stress

Good technical writing skills

Knowledge and experience with basic shop safety

Basic understanding of electrical and chemical engineering issues

Basic understanding of fluid dynamics and heat transfer

FEA analysis experience

Should have equipment and structural product design (process of scaling up production of something to a commercial level. Etc.)
