Contract :6 Months This is an on-site position to oversee the management and resolution of Client’s first line support Ticket resolution involves supporting and troubleshooting Cisco software and technologies for network, telecommunications, and data communications. The position will include assessing and optimizing network design through review and assessment of user needs, including evaluating vendor products and making recommendations for selection, monitoring and responding to communication system problems, resolving system outages and degraded service by working with internal and external technical staff and vendor support, and configuring and implementing system additions and modifications. Efforts may include planning, design, procurement, implementation, operation, and general problem solving. Additionally, the person in this position will provide support, guidance, and training to less experienced and contracted personnel, as well as for end-users. The successful applicant will be responsible for mid-level project management as needed. Client’s IT Department is a 24/7, high-availability environment and the position requires the individual to be on call as needed. The job requires other duties to be performed as assigned.

• Provide first-level support for IT issues related to telecommunications and data communications.

• Manage all day-to-day activities related to the IT Service Tickets.

• Assist users in defining and resolving network-related problems.

• Resolve issues by setting up VPN access; firewall rules; troubleshooting software (e.g. Cisco Switch); configuring wireless access points, devices, ports, cabling, and switches; punch-downs; set up and test new software/telecom applications.

• Provide prompt, efficient, and effective management of tickets and resolution of issues.

• Provide oversight and support for all Client’s IT communication system technologies under the general direction of the Technical services Manager.

• Successfully communicate and coordinate with customers, departments, tech teams, business partners, and vendors to define issues, resolve tickets, provide training, and develop documentation.

• Document IT support activities and related procedures.

• Monitor network infrastructure software and review logs.

• Serve as back up to Datacom and Telecomm team, including configuring devices, managing inventory, and supporting IVRs.

• Join staff rotation of off-hours Pager Duty.

• Monitor adherence to agency standards, policies, and procedures.

• Assist with budget and contracts for communication network maintenance and services.

• Perform planning and design of high availability converged communication networks and implement solutions.

• Manage and document network configurations and performance baselines. Install hardware and software upgrades and expansions.

• Utilize and maintain network management applications.

• Assist with budget and contracts for communication network maintenance and services.

• Oversee projects, including developing formal project plans, scope, timeline, costs, and implementation.


• Bachelor's Degree in Network Communications Technology, or related field.

• A minimum of 4 years total credited experience in network and telecom support.

• Experience in training and user support for communication systems. Network communication technology certifications desired.

• Valid Oregon or Washington driver's license and good driving record in line with Client policy.

• Or any equivalent combination of training or experience.


• Telecommunications and data communications principles, industry standards and management of Voice-Over-IP technology; and networking protocols.

• Cisco software and technologies.

• Palo Alto Firewalls.

• Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems utilizing appropriate problem-solving techniques.

• Proper IT escalation procedures.

• Manage wiring, fiber, copper cabling, and other common equipment.

• Implement formal project management techniques and practices.

• Strong communication skills in oral and written form.

• Good organizational and time management skills to coordinate and prioritize work projects, manage time, and control the ticket queue.

• Maintain effective working relationships with employees, management and the general public, including those from culturally diverse backgrounds, the elderly, persons with disabilities and/or other vulnerable populations.

• Manage vendor contracts.

• Preferred: Atlassian, DWDM Fiber, Call Manager, Voicemail, and Enterprise Networking.
