Job Description

Essential Functions: This list of tasks is illustrative only and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by positions in this class. Duties include but are not limited to the following.

A. Facilities Maintenance 95%

  • Maintains the facility structure in accordance with cGMP manufacturing standards.

  • Coordinates and plans all facility repairs with Facilities Superintendent.

  • Assists in the P.M. on all equipment: forklift, HVAC, air compressor, boiler, and all Production equipment.

  • Assists in control of all tools and equipment in the shop.

  • Assist with the maintaining of the parts inventory.

  • Assist with coordination of all contractors that perform work on company property.

  • Assist in managing the work order system at the company.

  • All other duties as assigned by Facilities Superintendent or Management.

Non-Essential Duties:

A. Annual inspections 5%

  • Assists with the update of OSHA paperwork as annually required.

  • Assists contractors in doing inspections as needed.

Food Safety Role/Duties: Assists in the support of food safety and the company-s food safety policies by maintaining the facility and equipment.

Position Backup: Facilities Superintendent.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

Normal plant and laboratory environment; see, hear, talk, walk, sit and stand for long periods of time. Exposure to plant and laboratory environment with dust, fumes, noise, hot and humid conditions. Reach, climb, stoop and carry up to 50 pounds. Repetitive motion and hand movement. Use and view PC. Use telephone, fax, copier and calculator. Use various laboratory equipment and plant equipment. Read and write verbal and written communication, time management, interpersonal skills, and organizational skills. Push, pull, kneel, squat, reach above shoulder level, use fine finger movements, perform calculations, work in confined quarters, drive motorized machinery, and analyze machines and situations.

  • Knowledge and ability to operate production machines, forklifts, scissor lifts, and related equipment.

  • Knowledge of various cleaning agents and/or chemical.

  • Ability to use various hand and power tools.

  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse population.

  • Ability to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions.

  • Ability to perform a variety of repetitive manual tasks that require agility and manual dexterity.

  • Ability to work with strong cleaning and disinfecting solutions.

  • Ability to learn routine tasks quickly.

  • Willingness to ask questions when unsure about a task or situation.

Basic knowledge of the following:

  • Welding/Fabrication

  • Hydraulics/Pneumatics

  • Building maintenance (caulking, paint, trim, lights, plumbing)

  • Electrical/Electronics

  • Boiler/Steam (Possess or obtain Boilers- license)

  • HVAC

  • Forklift (maintenance/operation)

  • Lockout/Tagout

  • Blueprints/schematics/building plans

  • P.M. and workload organization


  • High School Diploma/G.E.D.

  • Mechanical experience and understanding.

  • Ability to read, comprehend, and write English fluently.
