Purchasing Manager

Exempt/ Salaried position

Shift: 1st shift – 7:00am - 4:00pm

A worldwide leader in the contract design and manufacture of implants, instruments and innovative technologies for the orthopedic, dental and cardiovascular markets is seeking a Purchasing Manager.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Set and maintain stock levels to ensure maximum efficiency of working capital.

  • Recommend purchasing objectives and improvements in purchasing program.

  • Obtain lowest cost consistent with approved quality and delivery standards.

  • Develop purchasing plans and programs to implement company policy and objectives. Identify additional sources of supply for important materials and maintains a relationship with acceptable vendors.

  • Evaluate supplier performance to ensure quality of delivery and reliability

  • Keep informed of all new developments relative to materials and supplies and make recommendations designed to reduce costs and improve methods.

  • Maintain purchasing records as are needed by the Finance and Quality departments.

  • Handle negotiations with suppliers on all conflicts or questions on prices, deliveries and specifications.

  • Responsible for inventory valuation, may be required to lead the purchasing responsibilities for a commodity or set of commodities for the global business.

  • Hire, train, assist employees; handle complaints, discipline and changes in status; set performance standards; conduct performance reviews; provide information regarding company policy, rules, regulations.

  • Support continuous improvement and EHS initiatives.

  • Perform other related duties as directed or assigned.

Qualifications :

  • 7 years of related purchasing management experience, C.P.M., C.P.S.M. APICS preferred.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Purchasing, Supply Chain Management or equivalent.

  • Attention to detail, analytical thinking and Problem Solving.

  • Strong negotiation skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office including MS Excel .

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Some travel may be required.
