Bio-Materials Supervisor — Ontario, CA

Reporting to the Senior Manager of Operations, the Bio-Materials Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating activities in a primary production facility to generate acrylic raw materials and specialized substances used for coating IOLs.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Defines production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignments.

  • Provides training of company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.

  • Continuously designs and implements improvements in productivity and process/product quality.

  • Maintains time and production records.

  • Manage/conduct production of acrylic material (buttons) according to demand and targeted safety stock levels.

  • Perform analytical tests including durometer, refractometer, UV/VIS spectroscopy, digital scanning calorimetry (DSC) for final products (buttons) releasing

  • Perform final documentation, verification and sign for button release.

  • Inspects products to verify conformance to specifications and directs setup and adjustments of equipment.

  • Performs duties in compliance with ISO13485 and FDA QSR’s requirements.

  • Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.

Job Requirements:

  • M.S. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biology (or related field)

  • A minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of industrial working experience.

  • Previous experience in Polymer Chemistry formulation and intraocular lens (IOL) production preferred.

  • Experience acting as representative during internal and external audits and/or overseeing compliance with FDA QSR and ISO13485 requirements.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret SOPs, professional journals, technical procedures, and regulatory documentation.

  • Ability to write reports, technical correspondence, qualification studies and procedures.

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and customers.
