Kelly Services Lead Design Engineer in Northborough, Massachusetts

Kelly Services is currently seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer in Northborough, MA. This role is for a Large Aerospace Client.

As a Lead Mechanical Engineer, you be responsible for working closely with aerospace teams leading projects for layered tubing, plastic sealants, and polymers and plastics.

Additional Responsibilities Include:

  • Design and develop the tooling required to produce new products, to include molds and trim/inspection fixtures. Work closely with Manufacturing in solving producibility issues and the hand off products into production.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Will be responsible for leading a small team of Engineers

  • Work with customers in the design and development of new products from design review through to production implementation.

  • Design and develop the tooling required to produce new products, to include molds and trim/inspection fixtures.

  • Work closely with Manufacturing in solving producibility issues and the hand off products into production.

Education and Experience:

  • Communicate with co-workers, employees, and supervisors on problems, suggestions, and improvements and actively support Quality, Safety, and Environmental Programs.

  • Promote and implement continuous improvement and lean manufacturing techniques.

  • Communicate with customers on status of projects, questions, and changes.

  • BA/BS in related technical field and/or 5-7 years related experience; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • 3D CAD modeling preferably Solid works, strong computer skills.

  • Mold design and manufacture methods.

  • Good communication skills verbal and written ability to read and communicate effectively within all internal departments

  • Good math skills-knowledge of product, materials including polymers/plastics/rubber compounds, operations, tooling, and fabric.

  • Ability to read blueprints.

  • 5 years’ experience within rubber/plastics industry

  • Supervisory Responsibilities: Must be able to Lead a small team of Engineers
