CAD Designer (New Hudson, MI)

Our client, a machine shop in the fastening/ tooling business, is currently hiring severalCad Designers to Support Engineering in preparing routine layouts, detail drawings, assembly drawings, sketches & diagrams.

These positions are Contracts without end dates.

The Designers will layout in Solidedge all drawing details, to include all views and dimensions necessary for manufacture, and also make copies of drawings, and maintain information regarding changes to databases.

Responsibilities/Duties:

Uses computer assisted design/drafting (Solid Edge) equipment and software to develop designs

Create and revise production drawings (detail and assembly drawings)

Makes final sketch of proposed drawing, checking dimension of parts, materials to be used, relation of one part to another, and relation of various parts to whole structure or project

Sketches rough layout of machine and computes angles, weights, surface areas, dimensions, radii, clearances, tolerances, leverages, and location of holes

Utilizes knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, mathematics, materials, and other physical sciences to complete drawings

Drafts detailed multiview drawings of machine and products

Draws finished designs from sketches

Update Drafting and Engineering Standards

Responsible for setting up and maintaining document control using the company’s procedures and configuration management system

Communicate with Tooling, QA, Engineering, and Manufacturing regarding new and revised prints

Qualifications:

Solid understanding of drafting techniques and familiarity with engineering terminology

Mechanical aptitude with ability to complete basic mathematical calculations

Familiarity of CAD/CAM equipment and relationship of CAD to CAM

3d CAD software knowledge, Solidedge preferred but not required (2-5 years minimum preferred)

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

Ability to write routine reports, operating instructions and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
