Kelly Services Switchboard/Referral Coordinator in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Job Description

Kelly Services is seeking a Switchboard/Referral Coordinator for a DIRECT HIRE position!!

The main focus of the switchboard/referral coordinator-s role will be managing incoming referrals/fax orders by obtaining and verifying necessary demographic and insurance information in order to schedule clinic appointments while answering all incoming phone calls and directing to the appropriate department or team. The individual will be cheerful and upbeat by creating positive impressions and experiences for all patients and staff.

  • Working closely with physician teams to keep an updated clinic schedule available by working closely with switchboard and scheduling team to answer/route incoming phone calls and facilitate prompt scheduling of referrals ensuring

  • Distribute faxes, E-faxes, and mail

  • Assist with physician schedule updates (cancellations, blocked time, rescheduling, etc.)

  • Handling a high volume of calls requiring the ability to gather relevant information quickly

  • Mailing packets to new patients in a timely matter ensuring patients are prepared for their upcoming visit

  • Coordinate interpreter services for patient when necessary


  • Previous Switchboard or Scheduling experience

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma

  • Medical terminology background

  • Computer and software experience, ex. Microsoft Office Suite

  • Knowledge of and adherence to company policies and protocols, including HIPAA and safety guidelines

  • Must be able to meet deadlines and benchmarks

  • Requires being able to deal with difficult, sensitive and confidential issues

  • Must be able to handle high volume of calls

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • A team player with excellent communication skills and a positive attitude

  • Detail-oriented, focused on accuracy, quality, productivity, thoroughness

  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and handle deadlines in a fast paced environment

  • Wonderful verbal communication skills, ability to handle high-stress environments, and have experience with accurately handling multiple tasks.

  • Excellent customer service skills and an ability to effectively interact with diverse internal and external customers, patients, and employees is a must to be in this role

  • Monday through Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm, pay rate of $14.50-18.00
