Job Description

Kelly Services has a client that is currently seeking 1st shift Machinist! The hours are 7 am to 3:30 pm, Monday - Friday. For immediate consideration please email your resume to 4722@kellyservices.com.

Summary: Produces machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating CNC milling machines from engineering drawings while maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment, tools and supplies.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensioning.

  • Translate the requirements of detailed part drawings into measurements for production

  • Programs mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs.

  • Sets-up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three- and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, tools, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers; indicating vices and chucks.

  • Manufacturing or modification jigs and fixtures as needed.

  • Prepping of machined parts for surface finish to include tumbling, sanding, hand finishing and parts marking. Maintain a clean and safe work area.

Requirements

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • High school diploma/GED required with 3-5 years of experience in a machine shop setting programming and operating CNC mills, manual mills, lathes and other production equipment.

  • Must possess strong basic math skills with a proven history of using gauges, calipers, micrometers and the ability to read and understand engineering drawings.

Preferred Skills:

  • Ability to program and operate CNC mills, manual mills lathes and drill presses.

  • Ability to program from engineering drawings, edit existing programs and operate CNC mills.

  • Ability to function as a member of a team. Dedicated to quality performance in all aspects of the job.

  • Must have good vision including able to work with small parts and sometimes doing so for long periods of time. Ability to become certified and safely operate the forklift, scissors lift, etc.

  • Must have ability to read and follow engineering drawings. Must have mathematical skills and the ability to accurately measure using whole number, fractions, etc.

  • Fadal milling machine operation and chucker experience a plus.

  • Use of Bobcad for programming a plus.
