Kelly Services is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer for a Sr. Project Engineering opportunity in Longmont CO.

Job Description:

We are looking for an exceptional Project Engineer to join our team as a technical leader eager to apply his/her experience, talents, and creativity to advancing one of the most exciting electro-mechanical technologies. You will have a high degree of flexibility to lead, develop, and execute successful and cost-effective design solutions that leverage high performance components, materials, and technologies as needed to meet program requirements. You will lead all technical aspects of the programs you are responsible for and be deeply involved in all stages of development from concept to delivery.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • An initial spool-up period of immediate engineering support for existing programs while you integrate with the team and absorb details of our design heritage and processes

  • Technical leadership of future projects where you oversee and execute on all technical aspects in coordination with program management to meet program requirements, cost, and schedule

  • Technical point of contact for program customers

  • System engineering, requirements flow-down, technical risk assessments and risk reduction activities

  • Detailed mechanical design of precision opto- and electro-mechanical assemblies and components

  • Collaboration with and direction of other engineers and subject matter experts performing electrical and optical engineering, and structural, thermal, and controls analysis

  • Production, assembly, integration, and test planning

  • Hands-on assembly, integration, and testing of hardware, as well as on-site integration support with customer systems

  • New business development, proposal support, and IR&D projects

Requirements:

  • BS or higher in Mechanical Engineering as well as familiarity with electrical systems engineering

  • Demonstrated experience with technical program leadership, planning, and execution

  • 10+ years of relevant hands-on experience designing, fabricating, integrating, and qualifying designs to requirements

  • Strong interpersonal skills with excellent written and oral presentation skills for interfacing with customers, management, and engineering staff

  • A passion for high-tech engineering, an eagerness to learn, and a desire to become deeply integrated and engaged with a team of like-minded people

  • Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a security clearance

Desired:

  • Experience developing precision opto- and electro-mechanical systems

  • Experience developing and qualifying hardware for military and space applications

  • High Proficiency with SolidWorks

  • Familiarity with some of the following: FEA, CFD, structural dynamics, optical systems engineering, optical alignment, control systems, electronics, composites
