Position: Desktop/PC Support

Location: Lincoln, NE 68508

Duration: 2 - 3 months

Pay: $18 - 20/hr on W2

Schedule: 8 – 4:30 Monday – Friday

May start earlier depending on half hour or hour lunch.

Job Duties:

Job Technical Skills – This position is responsible for providing technical support to include maintaining, repairing and operating computer equipment, performing installations, making hardware and software purchases and providing client support at all levels. Periodically on call as required to support outage restorations or control center operations.

  • Provides customer service for computer users in the areas of PC/peripheral/mobile hardware, operating systems, and software applications.

  • Troubleshoots and resolves information technology problems. Researches and gathers system requirements and develops plans to implement solutions. Proactively manages, prioritizes and communicates the results.

  • Effectively and proactively documents and updates issues and request in the IT Service Management (ITSM) system.

  • Plans and implements desktop hardware/software initiatives and use of desktop management tools. Assists in LAN administration and troubleshooting. May lead projects.

  • Monitors current and emerging desktop technology, develops standards, makes recommendations, and may occasionally deliver presentations.

Troubleshooting – The individual in this position will monitor equipment to ensure maintenance schedules are adhered to. Demonstrates knowledge of normal equipment operation in order to spot potential equipment problems before they occur. Determines causes of operating errors, decides what to do about them and knows when to notify more senior personnel.

Gathering & Using Information – Seeking a candidate who effectively researches and finds needed information relevant to job tasks in an efficient, cost effective, and timely manner. Shows resourcefulness and tenacity in obtaining data, using a variety of methods and contacts as needed. Understands how to research and effectively leverage online information resources. Always considers the credibility of information sources, logically evaluates collected information to make informed and valuable recommendations. Successfully identifies, collects, and applies appropriate information, analysis tools, and technology.

Creativity & Innovation – The ideal candidate understands which problems or situations require creativity. Challenges current views or assumptions and creates fresh ideas and new ways of seeing things. Exposes self to a large volume of diverse information in order to help generate new thoughts. Explores new techniques to improve work results and recommends alternatives or modifications to existing procedures. Knows when progress is being made.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Associate’s degree in Computer Science or Information Technology, and

  • Up to two years of IT support or related experience, or

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • May require additional certifications depending on area of assignment.
