Quality Inspector (Hudson, Ohio)
Client in Hudson, Ohio is seeking a Quality Inspector knowledgeable with part inspection and documenting process change requests from suppliers for customer for approval. This position is a Temporary to Direct role with fastener supplier.
Hours for this position are Monday through Friday, 3:00 Pm - 11:00 PM.
The focus will be PPAPS. The individual needs to be versed in using Micrometers, Calipers, and other devices used in measuring parts. They will also need to read blue prints to help identify customer specifications. The Inspector will assist the Quality manager in maintaining compliance of the Quality Management System and Environmental Management System to applicable standards (ISO-9001 ISO/TS 16949, ISO 14001, etc.), to customer requirements, and internal standards.
Responsibilities will include:
Understand the requirements of international standards such as ISO/TS 16949 and ISO 14001, and communicate them within the company. Plan, perform and document inspection and audit activities to insure compliance with these standards
Collation of supplier documentation / PPAP for customer submission
Creating required documentation for customer submissions, including AQP, customer documents and any other required documentation for PPAP or process change requests
Plan, perform and document receiving, in-process and dock audit product inspections.
Operate common measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers, and be trained to operate specialized measuring tools such as hardness testers and comparators. Account for the quantity and traceability of consumable test supplies, where necessary. Perform calibration on certain measuring equipment and maintain the company's calibration system
Documenting process change requests from suppliers for customer for approval
As-needed, generate certifications and read blueprints
Assist with PPAP Dimensions. Perform all aspects of PPAP development including Process Flow Diagram, FMEA, Control Plan, IMDS submissions, dimensional checking, performance testing, and other activities as required
File Electronic documents from supplier and vendors
Request updated ISO and TS Accreditations from vendors and suppliers
Inspect First Article and other dimensional required to either accept or reject for production
Enter Receiving, In-process and Final Inspection information into Quality Program
Assist Customers, inside sales and other departments with quality concerns
Use Calipers, Micrometers, Comparator, RS Machine, depth gages and Rockwell Hardness Machine
Experience in review/analysis of advanced quality planning documents for quality planning activities (FMEAs, Process Flow Diagrams, Control Plans)
Post-high-school technical training or education
Familiarity with ISO 9001 or TS/IATF 16949, and ISO 14001
Experience with basic measurement tools (calipers, mics, gauges)
Experience with automotive PPAP's (Flow diagram, FMEA, Control Plan)
Understanding of structured problem solving (8D, DMAIC, 5-WHY/ Drill-Deep-and-Wide)
Able to routinely interact, in a professional manner, with customers, suppliers, and other company departments
ASQ, 6-Sigma or Lean certification
Understanding of fasteners, fastener manufacturing, fastener testing, and fastener dimensional and performance standards
