Kelly Services Quality Assurance Engineering Technician -Hillsboro, OR in Hillsboro, Oregon

Kelly Scientific Resources is in search of a Quality Assurance Engineer to join a specialty chemical company based in Hillsboro, OR. The primary responsibilities for the position are to use experience and judgment to plan, execute and accomplish goals in related to product quality in conjunction with performing a variety of tasks related to the manufacturing processes.

This is Direct Hire opportunity working 8am-5pm M-F with competitive compensation.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepares internal and external documents.

  • Interface to customer for quality related items and customer audits.

  • Investigation of quality problems and thereafter, implementation and verification of corrective action with

  • focus on the prevention of reoccurrence through follow-up.

  • Investigation of, and response to, quality problems that occur from a customer complaint.

  • Working with other departments work towards process improvements.

  • Support Failure Mode and Effect Analysis as needed.

  • Support production improvements by utilizing SPC techniques and tools such as JMP.

  • Improve the manufacturing processes to reduce manufacturing costs, improve quality and promote safety.

  • Pursue activities for continuous improvement related to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001

  • Performance of other related duties related to the smooth operation as of the facility as required, including

  • cleaning and general housekeeping.

  • Periodical product quality check through internal process audit and external supplier audit.

  • Additional tasks related to a smooth production facility operation

  • Adherence to corporate, State and Federal regulations and guidelines when handling hazardous materials or when exposed to hazardous situations.

  • Must adhere to departmental and corporate standard operating procedures, including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

  • Periodically attending regular EHS meetings related to hazardous waste management and handling, general safety, environmental management.

Job Requirements:

  • B.S in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or an equivalent education

  • Knowledge and experience in ISO 9000 or similar quality management system

  • Maintain ISO document and record control

  • Knowledge of measurement precision / capability analysis techniques such as gauge R&R

  • Knowledge of statistical techniques such as Statistical Process Control (SPC) and JMP

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access

  • Ability to effectively communicative (oral & written) in English language

  • Must be comfortable working with chemicals, including: corrosives and organic solvents
