Research Associate II (CAR T), Duarte, CA

As a Research Associate II (CAR T), you will work as part of a small team for clinical manufacturing of T cell products in a cGMP facility.

Position Summary: This is a fast-paced lab involved in cutting edge technology, research and clinical immunotherapeutic programs. Will train new personnel in project specific techniques and procedures.

Job Duties and and Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform clinical manufacturing of T cell products in a cGMP facility

  • Aseptic techniques for media or cytokine compounding

  • Passaging, maintenance and cryopreservation of cell cultures (e.g., T cell and tumor cell lines)

  • Immunogenetic selection of cells

  • Genetic modification, cloning, and characterization of T cells

  • Performance of T cell functional assays (e.g., cytotoxicity and cytokine production assays)

  • Assisting in revising/maintaining SOPs and in cell product manufacturing/process development

  • Preparation of cell products for in vivo / murine administration

  • Perform all tasks associated with the manufacture of clinical product following batch records and SOPs

  • Assist in the development of standard operating procedures, batch records, deviations and change controls

  • Assist in process development for cell product manufacturing

  • Successfully troubleshoot processing and equipment issues

  • Provide routine lab support and maintenance activities

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (BS) in biological sciences or a related field. Master's degree preferred

  • Two (2)years related research / laboratory experience, OR one (1) year related research / laboratory experience with a Master's degree (MS)

  • Prior experience with handling and propagation of human primary cells, cryopreservation, purification, and aseptic/sterile techniques

  • Basic mathematical skills

  • Knowledge of cGMP / FDA regulated industry

  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in lab work as well as accurate record keeping and lab documentation

  • Ability to summarize and present results

  • Experience with team-based collaborations

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent skill in Microsoft Office applications and data analysis

  • Ability to think critically, and demonstrated troubleshooting and problem solving skills

  • Self-motivated and willing to accept temporary responsibilities outside of initial job description

  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with minimal direction and able to adjust workload based upon changing priorities

  • Work hours may vary, weekend / evenings shifts possible, and ability to work off-shift and long hours as required
