Kelly Services Laboratory Technician in Denver, Colorado
Active - Full Time Regular full-time $18-$24.00 per hour (This is a direct hire position)
Denver, CO, US
Work Hours: Monday- Friday, 11 pm-7:30 am
Embedding- Embedding patient’s tissue samples in paraffin molds.
Microtomy- Producing high quality microscopic slides from patients tissue samples.
Special Staining techniques- includes routine H&E, Special Stains, Immunohistochemistry, and Immunofluorescence.
Reagent Preparation- Making up of chemical solutions for any area in the Histology Lab as needed.
Hazardous Waste Regulations and disposal.
Other duties as assigned.
Responsible for production of Routine and Special Histology techniques.
Block and slide filing.
Maintain integrity of patient specimens at all times, with a high level of accuracy.
Responsible for maintaining the necessary levels of confidentiality.
Responsible for maintaining effective communication between co-workers and management.
Exercises good judgment in conflict resolution.
Responsible for following all quality and regulatory standards required in performing tasks.
Maintain a clean workplace.
Demonstrate initiative, dependability, cooperation and diplomacy in all situations in order to maintain a high standard of customer service to the patient.
Other duties as assigned or requested.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Working knowledge of all Histology procedures- embedding, microtomy, tissue processing, fixation, decalcification, routine H&E, special stains, Immunohistochemistry and Immunofluorescence staining.
Solid understanding of operating and maintenance to all equipment in the Histology Laboratory.
Ability to consistently provide accurate work and to pay close attention to detail.
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of laboratory equipment and instruments or refer to appropriate sources for repairs.
Excellent communication skills with co-workers, management and the public.
Ability to maintain the necessary levels of confidentiality.
High School or Equivalent.
Training and documented proficiency in Histology (NACCLS program or OJT). Attends continuing education activities and/or certification to maintain current knowledge and skills.
A minimum of two years experience that demonstrates the knowledge and experience necessary to be eligible for HT/HTL (ASCP) registry.
Requires a full range of body motion, including manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
Moderate physical activity – walking, standing, or sitting in one place for prolonged periods of time.
With the ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
