Kelly Services Transport Analyst in Christiansburg, Virginia
The main purpose of the role is to develop and enhance distribution of returnable packaging to material suppliers. Responsible for analyzing and monitoring returnable packaging orders and the delivery process, including transportation cost follow up, optimization to drive continuous improvement activities.
Responsibilities and Authorities
-Drive continuous improvement and optimization activities for packaging distribution process within North America.
-Lead the implementation of transport flows for new packaging suppliers, securing the right transport mode and shipment frequency is chosen in each implementation.
-Secure our systems are correctly managing the daily transport optimizations to maximize trailer utilization
-Constantly review transport set-ups considering packaging volumes from all plants and distribution centers, combining volumes and integrating set-ups when possible
-Support implementation of new transport flows or changes to the existing set-ups
-Distribute packaging and manage dealer returns utilizing our packaging systems
-Ensure planning is carried out in accordance with the Planning procedure and make necessary rearrangements
-Work closely with Regional Planner to effectively communicate any packaging availability issues at terminals
-Distribute volumes based on cost-effective, environmentally friendly and service-minded requirements, i.e. comparing incoming orders with available packaging and give directives to concerned processes
-Work in close cooperation with our packaging terminals and depots to ensure on time delivery of packaging material
-If necessary, alter orders, volumes of orders and delivery days in agreement with the responsible area manager
-Provide corrective action plans to prevent future deviations within the packaging distribution group
-Analytical Skills: Recognizing patterns in data, information, or events, drawing logical conclusions, and making recommendations for action
-Attention to Detail: Monitoring adherence to standards and actively checking for accuracy of data received or generated before passing it on

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
BS degree in Logistics or Business preferred or equivalent experience
3-5 years logistics and/or transportation experience
Proficient experience in MS Office with expertise in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
Demonstrated experience working effectively in a high stress, cross functional team environment
Demonstrated ability to multi-task, handle multiple tasks, projects and conflicting priorities efficiently, appropriately and productively
