Summary: Formulations of specific mixes to specifications as required by the Lamination Department.

Shift/Schedule: Will train on 1st shift, but then must be flexible to work either 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift after traiing period.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): it is the employee responsibility to ensure that appropriate PPE is worn at all times. Complete adherence to the companies PPE program is mandatory. It is the employees responsibility to ensure that they and others are working in a safe manner and using appropriate equipment for the task at hand.

  • Signed off by Supervisor or Safety Manager when appropriate level of safe work environment and use of personal protective equipment is demonstrated.

  • Complete knowledge of Training: Know how to obtain training, and assist in the training of others. Your training is your responsibility, you should drive your personal training in order to obtain proficiency. Actively involved in requesting procedural updates though the use of the comments, in order to ensure procedures are accurate to current process.

  • Signed off by Human Resources, working in conjunction with Quality System Manager, when employee has demonstrated the ability to give and receive training. Evidence of active participation in procedural updating process, is also required.

  • Handling Hazardous Waste: Ensure that all wastes are properly segregated and labeled. Ensure that hazardous waste is placed 4 drums per pallet and no more than 2 pallets high. Ensure that appropriate aisle space is maintained, in outside storage at all times. Only 1 working liquid container may be in premixing at anytime. Ensure that Hazardous Solid rack is emptied as appropriate on a daily basis.

  • Signed off by Environmental Manager, when employee demonstrates complete knowledge of hazardous waste handling and storage practices.

  • Formulate mixes per established specifications. It is your responsibility to ensure that all formulations are prepared in accordance with established formulas, perform all tests throughout the mixing process as outlined in the specification. Inform your supervisor should any deviations from the requirements be found during the mixing process.

  • Signed off by Supervisor after demonstrating the ability to follow the specifications, conduct appropriate tests, and communicate in case of issues.

  • Safe storage and handling of components. Proper stacking of component and mixed drums following FIFO and ensuring that all labels are properly attached and clearly visible, grounding straps are used, and chains are used to move totes. Proper usage of the compactor.

  • Signed off by Supervisor when proof of Safe storage and handling is proven.

  • Mixing Room and solvent storage area must be kept clean at all times. Work areas shall be cleaned daily, trash emptied, area swept, floors mopped, and the empty drums moved outside. Tape, stickers, papers etc. shall be removed from the equipment and environs. A complete cleaning of the Equipment is performed as necessary.

  • Signed off by Supervisor after a complete explanation of the expectations of the employee in the work area and equipment are given, and the ability to maintain the work area is demonstrated.

  • Knowledge of where to locate Safety Data Sheets. Better than average understanding of reactions of certain types of chemicals with each other.

  • Signed off by Supervisor when SDS knowledge is proficient for job being performed.

  • Proper mixing of hazardous materials. Knowledge of the reactions of various components and the effect they have with each other. Ensure that all materials placed in a drum are compatible. Proper labeling of all materials, both liquids and solids is mandatory, including hazards labels.

  • Signed off by Supervisor and Inventory Control, after demonstrating a complete understanding of labeling and inventory recording.

  • Proper and accurate inventory documentation. Proper recording of materials used and mixes produced. Data shall be accurate with respect to actual amounts added of each component in specific mixes.

  • Inventory Control shall sign off when a thorough knowledge of computer systems, input requirements and proper inventory usage is demonstrated.

  • Apply the "First In, First Out" inventory process. Ensure that when using components, the oldest material is used first. This is handled in part by ensuring that the outside storage area is maintained with oldest drums being placed in front. Making sure all drums are properly labeled.

  • Signed off by Supervisor after demonstration of ability to store and maintain inventory properly.

  • Knowledge of the company's Quality Management System. Know your place within the system, including your responsibility to your training and the training of others. Knowledge of your department and the company's Quality Objectives.

  • Signed off by a member of the Quality Management Audit Team when sufficient knowledge is demonstrated.

  • Understanding the department's Quality Objectives. Contributing to department quality objectives, and your participation in achieving them.

Job Requirements:

  • High School Diploma, ability to be on feet for entire shift, lifting of containers, and computer literate.

  • 2 years work experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

  • Strong mathematics skills are a must.
