Mechanical Engineer (Aurora, Ohio)

Our client, a designer and builder of custom machinery, is currently accepting applications for a Mechanical Engineer. Position is a fast- paced multi-functional position which requires managing multiple projects simultaneously while keeping them under budget and on time.

This position is a Direct Hire.

Job Summary:

Responsible for creating and maintaining mechanical machinery designs to meet customer needs. Supports all phases of design through manufacturing including installation, warranty and post warranty phases. Creates 3D models and assemblies and manufacturing drawings. Interfaces with suppliers as needed.

Responsibilities:

Develop detailed drawings and specifications for equipment, components, fixtures and controls using SolidWorks

With guidance from existing engineering team, complete cost estimating activities (analyzing blueprints, specifications, and other related customer documentation to prepare accurate lead time, material and labor estimates; reviewing data to determine appropriate material and labor requirements for efficient manufacturing processes, computing cost factors and prepare written proposals for sales team, etc.)

Manage projects received from start –to-finish (becoming familiar with all aspects of the project, including customer expectations, contractual commercial terms and all technical & design requirements, processing orders, etc.)

Interact with other workers to design, layout, or detail components and systems and to resolve design or other problems

Review and analyze specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas, and related data to develop component designs

Contribute to development of reference manuals and technical publications which describe operation and maintenance of mechanical systems

Interact with other workers to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information

Works with appropriate personnel to ensure appropriate equipment installation, start-up and operation

Recommend design modifications to improve machine or system operation

Provide outstanding customer service at all times

Qualifications:

Project management experience (background / skills managing all aspects of a project, including customer expectations, processing work orders, maintaining direct contact with customer’s liaisons, abiding to contractual commercial terms and all technical & design requirements, staying on timeline, etc.)

Experience with Solid Works required, minimum of 4 years preferred

2-3 years’ experience in mechanical design and drafting

Custom Equipment Design, including calculating BTU requirements, waterpump head pressures, vacuum pump drawdown times

Experience performing quick statics calculations to check the strength of a design without Finite Element Analysis

Experience with AutoCAD preferred

Cost-estimating background preferred (experience analyzing blueprints, specifications, and other related customer documentation to prepare accurate lead time, material and labor estimates, and reviewing data to determine appropriate material and labor requirements for efficient manufacturing processes)

Ability to read electrical pneumatic and P&ID drawings a plus
