Kelly Services is currently seeking a Laboratory Tech for one of our top clients in Texarkana, TX.

Projected Duration : 10/16/2017 – 10/15/2018

Type : Contract

Pay: $17/hr

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Cover 24/7 production and all vacancies with overtime.

  • operate and maintain the milling machine and quantometer, measure chemistries for #1, #2 #3, #4 and Dome melting furnaces; #1 and #2 holding furnaces and chemistries for each individual cast; log the chemistries into the quantometer computer and transfer the information to the mainframe computer so that it will be included in the data base for each coil produced.

  • Profile and perform periodic drift-correct procedures on the quantometer.

  • Certify and release ingots

  • Write certifications and release ingots or reroll to outside internal customers according to written specifications.

  • Plot and maintain statistical process control (SPC) charts on the testing equipment.

  • Analyze purchased scrap to verify chemistry.

  • Perform gas analysis of molten aluminum during casting and setup and maintain gas analyzer.

  • Maintain the lab and all equipment and supplies in good, clean operating conditions.

  • Perform weekly PM’s on quantometer equipment.

  • Maintain up-to-date samples and retain files.

  • Properly containerizes, labels, and transports hazardous and non-hazardous waste.

  • Review and Identify for Correction all production entries in AS400 for inventory control and traceability.

  • Enter Inventory Transactions into Charge Make-up Calculation Software (Keystone)

Qualifications :

  • Associates degree in chemistry, math, physics, biology or related field

  • Four years of lab or engineering testing experience in lieu of degree

  • Knowledge of chemistry, math, lab procedures, lab equipment

  • Microsoft Office competency

  • The ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization

  • Ability to work 8, 10, 12 hr. rotating shifts and OT

  • Lift and carry 50 pounds

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field

  • Previous QA or lab experience in metals fabrication

  • Previous experience with laboratory standards

  • Previous experience with quality management systems
