ICP Chemist- Metals Processing Santa Fe Springs, CA

Position: Direct Hire

Salary: $18.00/hr

Shift: Must be open to all shifts - 1st, 2nd and 3rd


  • Performs analyses according to assigned written procedures, manages several concurrent analyses as required, and strives to exceed accuracy and performance measures as provided by company management.

  • Closely examines sample quality and labeling and brings any deviation to the attention of Senior Chemist or Supervisor and suggests course of action.

  • Prepares and reviews assay in specified form to be approved by Senior Chemist or Supervisor.

  • Constantly monitors assay precision against historical norms, stated expectations, standards and preliminary results and brings any perceived deviation to the immediate attention of the Senior Chemist or Supervisor and suggests course of action.

  • Works with staff, manager and customer department to create and/or modify methods when instructed. Assures all methods are properly documented according to QA/QC policies.

  • Participates in shift change over and communicates the status of all analyses and needed work.

  • Keeps all equipment in functional operating condition, clean and available. Monitors equipment and supply needs and promptly informs supervisor of action to ensure uninterrupted workflow.

  • Ensures personal and overall laboratory work areas are organized and clean. Performs all necessary housekeeping as directed or required and leaves workplace in clean and orderly condition at end of shift.

  • Understands job safety requirements and follows safety and PPE guidelines at all times.

  • Assist another Chemist with training or method explanation when instructed by Supervisor.

  • Participate in method, equipment, quality, procedure and other training as provided by laboratory management.

  • Understands and follows all applicable guidelines of ISO 9001:2000, ISO 14001 and ISO17025 and ISO 18001 (when implemented) as well as the company’s Quality Mission.

  • Perform other tasks deemed necessary as assigned by laboratory or company management.

  • Works under direct supervision of laboratory supervisor or other laboratory employee as assigned by Supervisors


  • Bachelor in Chemistry or related field preferred.

  • Wet Chemistry Laboratory: Experience in wet chemical analysis and precious metals analysis preferred.

  • Experienced with ICP, AAS, IC and general instrumental methods preferred.
