Kelly Services Quality Assurance Technician- Food Manufacturing- Portland, OR in Portland, Oregon
Kelly Scientific is searching for a Quality Assurance Technician to join a food production facility in Portland, OR. The primary responsibility for this position is assuring the safety and quality of all finished products, starting with receiving raw materials, preparation, and shipping. This individual will be responsible for enforcing all GMPs, SOPs, and SSOPs.
This is a temporary opening with potential to extend. Working hours are 2:15pm-10:45pm. Shift differential pay offered.
Key Job Responsibilities:
Prepares quality control weight charts for all products manufactured on both shifts and oversees their correctness.
Directs collection of samples of products from operating lines; checks and records fill volumes and weights on charts.
Informs production supervisors of out of tolerance fill volumes, fill weights, or other substandard manufactured products or processes.
Visually inspects labeling, coding and packaging of finished products and supervises the same results from technicians.
Informs production supervisors and administrative staff of out of tolerance labeling, incorrect coding or packaging.
Conducts technical lab analysis of raw ingredients, products in process, and finished products according to written specifications and quality assurance procedures.
Develops new or enhanced testing procedures. Conducts experimental analysis, evaluates results, and establishes quality assurance or testing guidelines.
Standardizes, calibrates and utilizes scientific equipment such as pH meters, refractometers, moisture balance, weigh scales, viscometers, and microscopes.
Supervises the upkeep and accuracy of standardization logs for the calibration of equipment and testing procedures.
Develops and utilizes written analytical procedures, including the manufacture, standardization and use of chemical reagents and solutions.
Prepares data and performs computer data entry to record information regarding all test results consistent with current documented procedures, written or verbal instruction from the QA manager, or company policy.
Maintains all quality control records in formula and date order and creates new records when required. Inspects raw ingredients, processes and products.
Analyzes raw ingredients for appraisal and/or disposition. Informs production supervisors of same.
Conducts shelf life testing. Collects samples of raw ingredients and finished products to create retain samples.
Supervises the maintenance and rotation of retained sample inventory, and removes old inventory to dumpster.
Monitors employee health and sanitation practices. Reports unsatisfactory practices to the Director of Food Safety and Quality Systems and Operation supervisors.
BS or AS in natural sciences (Biology, Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry)
Basic computer skills: E-mail, MS Office, etc.
Ability to be assertive while maintaining a team-based environment
Positive, flexible attitude
Prior experience in QA/QC and/or GMP experience preferred
