Kelly Services Quality Assurance Auditor - Scientific - Food Manufacturing in Portland, Oregon

Kelly Scientific Resources is currently recruiting for Quality Assurance technicians for a food manufacturing plant in NE Portland. All employees are responsible for immediately reporting any food safety, food quality or plant security issues to management for appropriate action. This is a temporary, full-time position lasting approximately six months with a potential to get hired on directly after that period. Swing and graveyard shifts are open, must we willing to work minimum 6 days per week. Overtime and graveyard shift differential pay offered.

Responsibilities:

  • Collects samples of products from operating lines; checks and records fill volumes and weights on charts. Informs production supervisors and Q.A. Leadership of out of tolerance fill volumes, fill weights, or other substandard manufactured products or processes and takes action as appropriate.

  • Visually inspects labeling, coding and packaging of finished products. Informs production and Q.C. Leadership of out of tolerance labeling, incorrect coding or packaging.

  • Conducts technical lab analysis of raw ingredients, products in process, and finished products according to written specifications and quality assurance procedures.

  • Standardizes, calibrates and utilizes scientific equipment such as pH meters, refractometers, moisture balance, weigh scales, viscometers, and microscopes. Maintains the accuracy of standardization logs for the calibration of equipment and testing procedures.

  • Utilizes written analytical procedures, including the use of chemical reagents and solutions.

  • Prepares data and performs computer data entry to record information regarding all test results consistent with current documented procedures, written or verbal instruction from the QA Manager or Team Lead, or company policy.

  • Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of GMPs and Allergen programs, HACCP, Hazard Communication, Sanitation and all other relevant safety procedures. Participates in plant sanitation projects, mandatory training and overtime work.

  • All employees are responsible for upholding the principles of SQF 2000.

Requirements

  • Bachelors or an advanced degree in food science and technology, biology, microbiology, other food-related scientific discipline or equivalent work experience is preferred.

  • 1-2 years of progressive responsibility demonstrating judgment and decision making ability, preferably with a food manufacturer.
