Kelly Financial Resources is seeking a Credit Specialist for an opportunity to work with one of our premier clients, a thriving global organization, on a temporary 3-month basis. The Credit Specialist fields questions from franchisees about their accounts (credits, returns, invoices, etc.) and either solves the problem or guides them in the right direction. Additionally, this position is in charge of running various reports related to charges, month-end agings, etc.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor customer credit closely for payment activity, open invoices and aging receivables for compliance with credit terms.

  • Identify customer accounts that are delinquent, escalate such accounts to manager and business partner attention, notify account holder, seek status update and collect payment.

  • Enforce credit terms and follow department protocol regarding delinquent accounts; with manger approval, use cash with order, credit hold, payment plan, direct billing, default and demand letter, or sourcing with a collection agency as necessary.

  • Support the month end accounting close process; publish customer statements, validate and post finance charges, reclassify billing errors, update consignment order due dates, and inform the reserve for doubtful accounts.

  • Support accounts receivable management with timely reporting on A/R aging, payment plan tracking, views of total debt exposure, trend reports on high risk accounts, and other analysis as required.

  • Assess credit risk and establish credit limit for new franchisees or members based on credit history obtained through credit reporting agencies.

  • Provide superior customer service and develop necessary relationships with both internal and external customers.

  • Respond to customer questions and disputes, research and determine root cause of issues, and suggest solutions to credit related problems.

  • Be the liaison and communicate frequently and clearly with the customer and business shared service center areas including billing, cash application, accounting, operations, legal and IT; engage with external product suppliers as necessary.

Education, Experience, and Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree required or Bachelor’s degree preferred in a related field

  • Requires 0 to 5 years of experience as a credit or accounts receivable specialist, representative or analyst

  • Experience in a role requiring extensive customer service skill and frequent customer interaction

  • Ability to apply basic accounting principles in the interpretation of financial transactions

  • Ability to secure payment from customers while employing commercial sensitivity, business acumen and good judgement

  • Effective and professional business writing and communication skill

  • Ability to work independently, set priorities, research and solve problems, and meet deadlines

  • History of performance success in past positions

Required Proficiency with tools:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Internet Explorer

  • Experience with JD Edwards or comparable enterprise resource planning system

  • Experience with billing systems and payment portals

  • Experience with credit reporting agency inquiry systems to vet applicant credit history

  • Experience with other workflow automation tools such as DocuSign
