Kelly Services Staff Accountant - Overland Park in Overland Park, Kansas

Kelly Financial Resources is currently seeking a mid-level Staff Accountant to join a growing company in Overland Park.

The purpose of this position is to assist in day-to-day management of the accounting functions in terms of ensuring that accurate payments of goods, services, and taxes necessary for the basic operation of the business are made in a timely fashion to provide accurate financials.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Process vendor invoices and input into accounting system for payment.

  • Process check requests and expense vouchers, insuring all appropriate approvals have been received and/or appropriate documentation is included.

  • Maintain accurate records and reconciliations are completed for all responsible transactions.

  • Monthly depreciation calculated for rental equipment.

  • Maintained the fixed asset process within the GL.

  • Compile reports and tables as directed by Vice President of Finance.

  • Run monthly AP reports and review for accuracy (based on AP terms and priority of payment needs)

  • Reconcile accounting with manufacturing subsidiary (due to/from, sales tax, insurance allocation).

  • Prepare accounts payable statements for the large main account.

  • Performs financial calculations to ensure accuracy and compliance.

  • Ensure that the company is registered with state tax agencies as needed.

  • Maintain and reconcile sales tax accounts in the general ledger on the balance sheet and income statement.

  • Ensure applicable state taxes are calculated and paid in a timely fashion.

  • Ensure one-off invoice sales taxes are recorded in the GL and paid to appropriate jurisdictions.

  • Ensure timely and accurate reconciliation and payment of invoices.

  • Note and monthly payments made through AMEX or checks.

  • Calculate the payment requirements needed monthly.

  • Manage AMEX statement.

  • Identify wire/ACH payments and apply monthly AP wire payments to AMEX.

  • Schedule out charges including statements are charged to appropriate GL account (expense, fixed assets, etc.) and review with Staff for reconciliation purposes.

  • Assist with audits/review of company’s financial accounts.

  • Other duties as needed related to accounting functions.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business or other related field, or 5+ years of relevant experience in accounting field.

  • Strong mathematical skills.

  • Strong GAAP knowledge.

  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office including Excel (advanced skills required) and Word and Great Plains.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • High level of enthusiasm and energy.

Preferred Requirements

  • CPA

  • 5-10 year of relevant accounting experience.

  • Experience with small growth oriented companies.
