Histology Technician – Coon Rapids, MN

Kelly Scientific Resources is currently seeking candidates for a Histology Technician for one of our top clients in Coon Rapids, MN. This is a 3-6 month temp-to-hire positon, Monday-Friday, 9am-5:30pm.

As a Histology Technician placed with Kelly Scientific Resources, you will perform duties related to histology services including, but not limited to slide preparation, staining, imaging, paraffin and plastic mounting, etc. Adherence to GLP and non-GLP studies is mandatory. Assists in the review of protocols that include histology services, and ensures timelines are met.

Additional Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepares microscopic slides for research/diagnostic purposes; includes fixation, dehydration, infiltration, embedding, microtomy, and mounting to include both paraffin and plastic processed tissues, in addition to frozen sectioning.

  • Performs and maintains proficiency in histochemical staining procedures and troubleshooting techniques.

  • Performs quality control procedures on all samples (slides, blocks, forms, etc.) to ensure accuracy and excellence.

  • Performs photography and high-resolution x-ray imaging and film developing.

  • Coordinates and performs the shipping of all pathology related specimens, including slides, blocks, and wet tissues, to the appropriate designated facility. Performs thorough recordkeeping of shipping and receipt logs.

  • Performs tissue trimming according to established guidelines.

  • Performs accurate and timely record keeping of all study documents and histology forms.

  • Maintains proficiency in all appropriate designated departmental SOPs with knowledge of lab processes.

  • Maintains a clean, GLP-compliant lab and ensures all logbooks are reviewed and correct, and maintains laboratory equipment according to applicable SOPs.

  • Performs calibration or validation activities applicable to specialized equipment.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Completion of a Histotechnology program

  • ASCP certification is required, or the ability to sit for an pass the board exam within 6 months of hiring.

  • One year experience in necropsy or histology preferred but not required.

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the requirements listed above.
