Senior Firmware Engineer – Loveland, CO

Position Summary:

We're seeking a senior level Firmware / Embedded Software Engineer who will lead the development of firmware used in our industry leading water quality analysis instrumentation. S/he will be possess: a minimum of 10 years of experience programming in embedded C/C++: experience with a variety of microprocessors including ARM and PIC; Object Oriented Design experience and; experience leading and mentoring engineers.

Essential Functions:

  • Designs, develops, modifies and implements software applications for embedded and desktop environments.

  • Designs, develops, modifies, implements and executes unit tests and automated tests.

  • Supports and/or installs software applications/operating systems

  • Participates in the testing process through test review and analysis, test witnessing and certification of software

  • Actively tracks developments in the software community and incorporates them where appropriate

  • Works with business unit to evaluate and make recommendations on open innovation opportunities

  • Owns definition of overall product software architectures

  • Drives use of common components across software solutions

  • Coordinates across development efforts to ensure consistency and leverage of common technologies

  • Reviews design and development efforts by other teams to ensure adherence to standards

  • Plans, designs, and carries out programs, projects, studies, or other work independently.

  • Provides expertise in the core scientific or engineering discipline to all areas and provides information on strategic planning, acquisitions, and technology evaluation. Feedback is given to the Principal Scientist, Principal Engineer, or Executive Team Members

Other Non-Essential Functions :

  • Mentors junior scientists and engineers

  • DBS and Cross-Functional advocate

Qualifications:

Education, Background and Skill Requirements:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Computer or Electrical Engineering or related field.

  • Minimum of 10 years of directly relevant experience.

  • Detailed understanding of software development methodologies for commercial products.

  • Experience with Agile methodologies and scrum process.

  • Experience with technical leadership.

  • Strong background in software architecture and design.

  • Experience with DevOps.

  • Expert knowledge of software programming languages and tools required by project.

  • Demonstrated skill in the areas required to perform this job:

  • Software Troubleshooting

  • Software Documentation and Maintenance

  • Embedded Software Development

  • RTOS

  • GUI Design and Implementation

  • Networking and Communications Protocols

  • Localization and Internationalization

  • Database and Transaction Processing

  • Internet Standards and Protocols
