EQUIPMENT ENGINEER, ASSOCIATE (ENTRY LEVEL)

LOCATION: Duluth, GA

DURATION: Until end of year with possibility of extension

PAY RATE: Open to competitive market rates.

Position Purpose: Support role for engineering projects and technical expert for manufacturing. Liaison between the manufacturing group and the engineering group to resolve issues and maximize manufacturing efficiencies. Identify, design and implement improvements to machines and tooling to improve quality, increase throughout, reduce scrap, and create cost savings. Applies engineering principles to assigned projects such as DOE, engineering studies, and validations. Analyzes technical data to identify area for process and machinery improvement and recommends revisions for optimizing performance. Daily troubleshooting & correction of issues related to operations. Participation on capital projects including management of associated internal/external resources and validations. Responsible for executing protocols and continuous improvement support for production initiatives.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide support for new engineering/manufacturing projects such as process development(Yield and targeting improvement), hands on training, DOE, SPC, engineering studies, technical troubleshooting, Change review process, and validation (35%)

  • Prepare documentation related to procedures, training, work instructions, etc. (25%)

  • Ongoing technical support for maintenance, supervisors and technicians for new and existing processes. Analyzes technical data to identify areas for process and machinery improvement and recommends revisions for optimizing performance. (20%)

  • Identify, design and implement improvements to machines and tooling to improve quality, increase throughout, reduce scrap, and create cost savings. Design/Coordinate/Implement new engineering projects or improves existing processes. Develop process specifications and writing and executing protocols to support engineering improvements. (10%)

  • Work with suppliers to provide goods or services to manufacturing. (10%)

  • Most important decisions made fully independently:

  • Recommendations of new projects including process development, identifying potential savings opportunities, implementing process and equipment corrective actions. Perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis.

  • Most important decisions made with review and approval of other individuals or supervisors (include the reviews/approvals required) :

  • Implementation of new processes, change of current processes. (Requires management and formal Change Review Approval). Responsible for the qualification and implementation of automated machinery.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum Required Experience in a technical function within a medical device manufacturing environment.

  • Preferred Level: BS in engineering or Scientific Discipline.

  • Minimum Required: 0-3 years manufacturing experience in a project/leadership role. High level of technical knowledge of manufacturing process and basic engineering principles.

  • Preferred Level: 3+ years manufacturing experience in project/leadership role. High level of technical knowledge of manufacturing process and basic engineering principles.

  • Minimum Required: Hands on machine setup and troubleshooting experience, programing language experience (Beckhoff TwinCAT, VB, C++, etc.) computer literate to include MS Office, MS Windows. Ability to successfully train others.

  • Preferred Level: Over 3 years of experience in the medical device or pharmaceutical industry. Experience with Vision Systems, automation, PCL Logic, project management skills, and team facilitation skills.
