Quality Control (QC) Technician, Hawthorne, CA

As a Quality Control (QC) Technician, you will perform preventative maintenance on all equipment in the QC laboratory; understand the function and be able to troubleshoot all laboratory equipment; review and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and site work instructions; test in-process samples and run all required QC tests.

Shift/Schedule: 2nd shift: 2:30 pm - 11:00 pm Monday - Friday

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Follows Company and Site policies as related to Health, Safety, and Environment.

  • Demonstrates good housekeeping techniques and maintains a clean work environment.

  • A dedicated member of the Site Safety Committee.

  • Uses computer-based systems while performing assigned tasks.

  • Reviews and updates Standard Operating Procedures and Site Work Instructions.

  • Test in-process samples and run required QC tests.

  • Test incoming raw materials to ensure quality.

  • Enter the test results into a computer based program.

  • Perform routine calibration checks on testing equipment.

  • Perform preventative maintenance on all equipment in the QC laboratory. Understand the function and be able to troubleshoot all laboratory equipment.

  • Proactively responsible for reviewing quality related to the Standard Operating Procedures and Site Work Instructions. Remain current with all process and procedural changes.

  • Handles hazardous and non hazardous materials according to documented procedures.

  • Being able to complete projects by their due dates assigned by plant management.

Job Requirements:

  • Associate's degree (AA/AS) in Chemistry or previous work related experience.

  • Ability to follow site safety policies and wear appropriate PPE as necessary.

  • Ability to read and understand written test procedures and other pertinent information necessary to performing job functions.

  • Ability to use computer based systems, such as Lotus Notes and Microsoft products.

  • Ability to generate and update SPC data for finished product specifications.

  • Ability to multi task and analyze several samples at once.

  • Ability to participate in gauged R&R and test method variability studies.

  • Ability to pass a color blindness test.

  • Demonstrate good teamwork and communication.

  • Have good housekeeping techniques.

  • Attend monthly safety and quality meetings.

  • Must be willing to work overtime as needed.
