Calibration Technician

Summary:

Manage “calibration recall system” to assurance conformance to company standards.

Duties:

  • Maintain calibration system to full compliance with company standards and ISO requirements

  • Manage and coordinate calibration activities with both internal and external suppliers and customers

  • Submits documentation to engineering for non-conforming gages

  • Able to perform mechanical calibration of gages as needed, utilizing layout style

  • Notifies leader or supervisor when calibration data exceeds acceptable limits or when incidents of poor quality are noted

  • Coordinates calibration activities with production

  • Manages the flow of gages through the inspection department

  • Able to train others regarding best methods in metrology

  • Able to write calibration procedures

  • Observes company processes and makes recommendations for improvement

  • Participates in Lean Projects, 5S, SDWT

  • Maintains adherence to company policies, environmental and safety standards, and good housekeeping standards

  • Performs other duties as/if required

Qualifications:

5+ years experience maintaning, managing and coordinating calibration activities with production and suppliers/customers

High school or technical school education, or equivalent, with emphasis on metrology

ASQ Certified Calibration Technician preferred, but not required

Dexterity required to operate gages and testing equipment

Analytical capabilities to interpret detailed and complex drawings

Ability to train others regarding best methods in metrology. Writing calibration procedures

Physical Requirements:

  • Visual ability (corrected) to read directions and prints and to inspect parts closely to ensure that they meet specifications

  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate inspection machinery for precision work

  • Physical ability to do work requiring frequent stooping and bending
