Infrastructure Project Manager - Denver, CO


The Infrastructure Project Manager will be responsible for delivering multiple global Infrastructure projects from project start-up through implementation to handing over to support teams, incorporating hardware and software delivery, integration with existing systems and UAT. You will interface with senior project sponsors, business analysts, technical teams, and the end customer. You will be expected to follow the standard project framework, which includes progress tracking, reporting and budgeting.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Your key responsibilities will be the day to day Project Management of assigned infrastructure projects. This involves communication with all members of the IT department and 3rd party companies and resources. Key duties include:

  • Maintenance of portfolio level plans including associated resourcing plans for the entire infrastructure team.

  • Adhering to the project lifecycle including maintenance of detailed project plans, project charters, risks and issue registers, regular reporting.

  • Preparation of key project documentation.

  • Running regular project and portfolio steering groups, presenting progress, risks and decision points.

  • Extensive stakeholder management.

  • Management of project costs (cash and P&L).

  • Liaise with 3rd party companies as guided.

Management knowledge and experience:

  • Proven track record of delivering IT infrastructure projects.

  • Proven problem management and resolution skills essential.

  • Project staff supervision experience essential.

Technical Skills & Qualifications Required:

  • Technical project management skills.

  • Good knowledge of MS Project, MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint.

  • Knowledge of MS Visio advantageous.

  • An understanding of the desktop, server, voice and network architecture.

  • Experience and understanding of highly fault tolerant, business critical, integrated. infrastructures involving multiple platforms.

  • An understating of Microsoft Active Directory and associated technologies.

  • Excellent Project / Office skills.

  • PMP preferred.

Competencies Required:

  • Must be able to demonstrate full project lifecycle experience, taking projects from the concept/inception phase right through to final delivery and hand-off to production.

  • Must be able to demonstrate experience of managing multiple concurrent complex deliveries.

  • Must be able to demonstrate risk management in past portfolio covering identification, assessment and ongoing risk management.

  • Must be able to demonstrate strong management of external third party vendors.

  • Must have experience of managing globally distributed teams of 8+ resources.

  • Highly motivated with a passion for technology and technical detail.

  • Solution-focused and committed to high quality delivery and team performance.

  • Service oriented with a keen interest in technology.

  • Organized individual who is a good communicator and can discuss technical subjects in layman terms.

  • Excellent communication, people and presentation skills.

  • BA/BS degree preferred or equivalent workplace experience.

  • Enthusiastic, proactive with accuracy and attention to detail with the ability to follow documented processes.

  • Good time management/planning – many of the reports have agreed deadlines which must be met each week and which require input from others.

  • Natural team player.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Challenging, inquisitive and straight talking.

Business knowledge and experience:

  • Must have experience of high pressure, large scale, and complex system environments.

  • Must have recent experience of managing end-to-end infrastructure structured projects such as Data Centre relocations, Unified Communications, Office Relocations, MS Exchange upgrades, Information Security initiatives.

  • Ability to understand business processes and use of data.

  • Investment management experience preferred, but not essential.
