Job Description

Kelly Services is recruiting for a student services specialist for a community college. The job description is as follows:

  • Provide information and assist in all aspects of the enrollment process.

  • Perform clerical duties in Enrollment Services/Counseling Departments and Welcome Centers.

  • The employee is expected to work in a multi-cultural diverse working environment.

  • Utilize student information system and the Web site as appropriate.

  • Seek information within the college to assist customers and collect proper documentation for student applicants.

  • Enter, record and maintain student records and files; reviews Computer Center file, review system data and documentation to identify and resolve issues relating to student records.

  • Assist the Registrar in reviewing change of grade forms for completeness and accuracy; processes approved grade changes in the college wide computer system.

  • Review and evaluate college transcripts for transferable credit; proofread, review for accuracy of transferred credits, record evaluations for inclusion in student files; evaluates transcripts for completion of graduation requirements.

  • Request suggested catalog changes from college departments; compile revisions for the Registrar-s review; proofread/edit catalog and prepare revisions for departmental review; maintain permanent records of catalog changes; perform editing (for example: College Catalog, schedules, correspondence).

  • Verify student enrollments, loan deferments, answer subpoenas and process appropriate paperwork (such as transcript requests, tuition verifications, etc.).

  • Review financial transactions related to student accounts and the college reporting system and process appropriate paperwork, if necessary.

  • Compile and communicate information from various sources, including a current file of college and University categories; compile admission statistics.

  • Handle various correspondences and assist in preparing mailings; e.g., stuffing envelopes, applying labels to envelopes or college publications.

  • Assist the Registrar in the collection of information utilizing electronic equipment; prepare daily enrollment statistics during registration period.

  • Assist in the counseling area by scheduling appointments and provide information to students and counselors.

  • Order supplies and equipment with appropriate approval.

  • Operate office equipment, e.g. photocopier, calculator, telephone, computer and any other equipment utilized by the college.

  • Maintain, clean and arrange for service of equipment when necessary.

  • Train and direct college student personnel with appropriate approval.

  • Perform related tasks as assigned.


Successful completion of a minimum of 24 college credit hours in Business Information Systems, Computer Information Systems, or Business Administration (BUS 1100, BUS 2030, BUS 2530, MKT 2520, ACC 1800, ACC 1810, ACC 1820 and CIS 1050). -or- Associate Degree or higher in any discipline AND Successful completion of Clerical Skills Battery (Language Arts, Math and Microsoft Office - Word and Excel). Computer keyboard proficiency: 50 wpm. Two (2) years customer service experience


This position will start out at 24 hours per week, then move to 40 hrs per week in mid/late September.
