Quality Engineer (Akron, Ohio)

Our client, a contract manufacturer and molder of engineered resins, is currently hiring a Quality Engineer.

The Quality Engineer focuses on the evaluation of products and materials, judges pass/fail according to acceptance criteria and reports results. The Quality Engineer is often called upon to set up evaluation methods for processes, such as control charts, attribute charts and statistical methods, and deal with large production projects and the conformity of their associated products. These evaluation tasks also include qualification of new and revised product, assisting in the developing of methods and written policies for quality assurance; working with the manufacturing staff on procedures; dealing with customers-discussing and resolving quality problems as well as complaints


Make suggestions to improve quality; assisting in developing overall ISO and T.Q.M. standards and procedures

Assist in developing and maintaining a supplier quality index utilizing ISO and S.P.C

Recommend and develop test methods/procedures

Revise and update the quality assurance manual

Prepare all necessary reports as required by customers and staff

Recommend and develop quality training.

Develop and implement quality programs to ensure conformity of purchased material and final products to quality standards

Develop all documentation required to qualify all new or revised products and processes

Assist in the maintenance and the development of ISO 9000 procedures

Assist staff in audit procedures and preparations;

Develops and recommends procedures to achieve superior quality and reliability for new and revised products

Revises and updates the quality assurance manual as necessary

Perform research and functions as a reference source for staff in manufacturing

Recommend and develop training programs and testing/toleration procedures for plant wide quality assurance


College Graduate (in engineering or similar field)

A thorough knowledge of quality assurance procedures, operations, equipment and methods including statistical analysis, precision measurement, industrial practices, statistical process control (S.P.C.), total quality management (T.Q.M.), and ISO 9000. Must be able to read micrometers and blueprints. Must be familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point.

Must be able to deal with customers, vendors and internal staff; must be familiar with quality procedures and methods and be able to recommend as well as coordinate implantation of such procedures; is responsible for staying familiar with and keeping up with new trends in the field; will be required to communicate effectively, work effectively with others; will be responsible for developing team concept and environment; recommends training concepts/programs for quality compliance; is responsible for assisting in ISO compliance.


Experience with Molded Part Problems, Vendors, and Customers, PPAPs, Inspection Data, Part Submission Warrants (i.e., Levels 1-5, PPAP Flow Charts, PPAP Control Plans, etc.)

Experience with PPAP and FMEAs with failure mode-potential effects (failure-potential causes-current process controls-recommended actions and responsibility-actions taken with severity, class, occurrence, detection and R.P.N. structure)

Knowledge of First Articles of Inspection, precision measurement, 5s, incoming receiving inspection, testing, line inspection

Skills with Cost Reduction Methods and Root Cause Analysis Component Inspection

Exceptional GD&T knowledge, and knowledge of Statistical Programs

Metal Stampings, Injection Molding, Stamping Dies, Consumer Products, or Textiles background; Consumer products industry or injection molding background
